Georgia couple goes missing after they responded to Craigslist ad for dream car

Since they first got married decades ago, Bud and June Runion had a dream: To purchase a vintage 1966 Ford Mustang convertible.

Last week, it seemed like that dream was finally going to happen. Bud, 69, had received an answer to the ad he'd placed on Craigslist looking for the car. On Thursday, he and June, 66, made the trip to McRae, Georgia, to purchase it,
WXIA reports. But then the couple then went missing.

Telfair County Sheriff Chris Steverson said he found two bodies on Monday, one male and one female, as well as the couple's car submerged in a nearby lake,
CNN reports. The bodies have not been positively identified as the Runions.

A suspect, 28-year-old Ronnie "Jay" Towns, is in custody after he turned himself in to authorities on Monday morning, according to the
Telfair County Sheriff's Office.

Police say the couple's last call was to Towns, who was arrested on charges of giving false statements and criminal attempt to commit theft by deception, the Sheriff's Office said.

Steverson told reporters Monday that Towns has no criminal record and is from a "good family,"
13WMAZ reports.

He added that Towns is not accused of harming the Runions.

The couple have three children together. Their daughter Brittany Patterson told
WSB-TV: "We are worried that someone might have done something bad and taken advantage of them."

Another daughter, Virginia Owens, told the TV station she would forgive someone who harmed her parents "... because God tells us to love and forgive."

A
Facebook page devoted to finding the couple has garnered over 120,000 supporters since being set up last week.
