The body of 27-year-old Carmen Yarira Esparza Noriega, a
brunette beauty who according to her friends aspired to be an actress, was
found in a drinking water tank just before Christmas, Fox News Latino reports. She had been missing since February.
Per
the report, city health officials found her decomposed body after residents at
the Grand Chapuletepec apartment complex complained that their drinking water
tasted strange. Family members identified Noriega's remains on Christmas Eve
and coroner officials said that she was also identifiable from information on
breast and hip implants.
The
investigation into what happened to Noriega is ongoing.
"The
body has been taken to the Institute of Forensic Sciences where a postmortem
will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death," a Mexico City
police spokesman said in a statement, per the Daily Mail. "However she has
already been identified as the missing woman from implants that she had as a
result of a plastic surgery operation.
"We
had a missing person report for her and had been looking into suggestions that
she may have been taken by a gang involved in the sex slave business. It
appears that was not the case."
A
friend of Noriega's, Javier Paz, told the Mail,
"She was a talented and beautiful woman who dreamed of being an actress.
When she failed to turn up at the clinic where she worked, we all thought that
she might have been kidnapped and sold off into the sex trafficking industry.
But it seems that her body was back in her apartment block the whole
time."
According
to reports, Noriega got her college degree in psychology.
