The
National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu
has said that the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu has no authority to
speak for the party.
Tinubu
stated this in light of recent anti-Igbo comments made by the monarch which
attracted controversy nationwide.
The
APC leader also stated that he was the first Yoruba governor to ever appoint an
Igbo commissioner.
Tinubu
made the statements on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 during an APC rally in the Iganmu
area of the state.
“The
Oba is not a politician. His job is to accommodate all political parties,
whether PDP, APC or SDP,” the APC leader said.
“To
you Igbos, don’t we pay your children’s school fees like others? Or is it the
palace that pays for it?” Tinubu asked.
Oba
Akiolu had warned the Igbos, during a meeting at his palace on Sunday, April 5,
to either vote for APC governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode or prepare
to die in the Lagoon.
