The
National Universities Commission (NUC) has abolished the award of Pass Degree
in Nigerian Universities with effect from the 2013/ 2014 academic session.
This decision was made known by the Vice Chancellor of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Prof. Abdullahi Zuru during the school's 2014/2015 matriculation ceremony which held yesterday February 4th in Sokoto.
According to Prof Zuru, the grading system of students in the universities has changed.

“What this means is that
the minimum pass mark for courses in the universities will now be 45 per cent,
that is, D-grade instead of the previous 40 per cent which was E-grade while
the minimum class of grade to be earned by the students will be now be Third
Class,” he said.
