Nigeria’s financial market leaders, Information Communication Technology experts and banking industry players are ready to position Nigeria’s Payments Systems for global competitiveness. Abuja: 23rd and 24thSeptember 2014: over 500 key players and thought leaders in the Nigeria Banking and Finance Industry gathered at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja for the 8thAnnual edition of the Nigeria Banking and Finance Conference,CIBN.

The 2 day event,held under the theme “Positioning Nigeria’s Payments Systems for Global Competitiveness”, saw the main conference opening on the 23rd of September with a welcome address by Otunba(Mrs.) ‘DebolaOsibogun,FCIB,President/Chairman of council ,CIBN.This was followed by a goodwill message from the Honorable Minister of Communications Technology,MrsOmobola Johnson.

A key highlight of the conference was a high-profile Power Debate session, led by internationally respected CEO’s and industry leaders. 

Top players in the industry are looking at positioning Nigeria’s payments systems for international competitiveness. The Minister of Communications Technology while speaking at the conference stated clearly that payments system can only be as good as the Information Communications Technology infrastructure available. She also emphasized the role of telecommunications and a well driven E-commerce as being vital in facilitating the growth of mobile Payments Systems in Nigeria.
