Giuliana Rancic Opens Up About Her Weight: "I Am Really Thin"

Giuliana Rancic's weight has been the topic of many conversations since her appearance at the 2015 Golden Globes, but after the scrutiny had "gotten out of hand," the E! News anchor is finally speaking out about what is going on with her health...and body.

"Some people were saying, 'The cancer is probably back,'" Rancic, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and underwent a double mastectomy that same year, dishes to People magazine, on newsstands Friday. "And they were accusing me of every eating disorder. I thought to myself, 'God, if someone really thought I had an eating disorder, what a horrible way to approach it.'"  

Fortunately the 40-year-old E! star doesn't have an eating disorder and is still cancer-free, but reveals her low weight is a result of a cancer-suppressing medication that she has been taking since 2012. "I started noticing that I was eating a lot, but not gaining weight at all," Rancic says. "I was concerned."

Rancic's oncologist, Dr. Dev Paul, informed her that the medication could alter her metabolism and cause weight loss. Despite facing criticism on a daily basis about her weight, she is just grateful that she continues to be happy and healthy with her family, which includes husband Bill Rancic and, of course, adorable son Duke Rancic!

"It's really hurtful," Rancic says of the negative attention. "I'm sorry that some people think I'm disgustingly skinny, as they put it, but there's nothing I can do. I'm lucky that I even have the type of cancer that reacts to the medicine."

She maintains that her appetite hasn't changed even though she can't gain weight. In fact, the Fashion Police host confesses she eats more than anyone she knows.

"I eat more than any of my friends," she says. "I eat a very robust, healthy, balanced diet and dessert almost every night. I'm not hiding from anything."

Even though she has an overall positive outlook and attitude, the overwhelming criticism has taken its toll on Rancic, especially when it comes to her self-esteem. "I look in the mirror and it's hard for me," she admits. "I am really thin. I want to look fit and beautiful and sexy, and I can't."

She was upset when a high-profile publication wanted to feature her but backed out because she was too thin, something that she described as "really hurtful" because she's "doing the best" she can.

"I never want my weight to distract people from what I do," she says. "But it is becoming a distraction, [whenever] I wear something sleeveless, show my arms, my back."

Joni Mitchell rushed to hospital after falling ill at Los Angeles home: report

The 71-year-old Blue artist was reportedly rushed to the hospital on Tuesday afternoon and remains in intensive care.

Per TMZ, which was first to report Mitchell's medical crisis, a call was made from the singer-songwriter's Los Angeles home at around 2:30 p.m. to report an unconscious female, but that the patient was alert on the ambulance ride to the hospital.

There has been no comment yet from Mitchell's rep.

Mitchell, who was born in Canada but become one of the most iconic personalities to come out of the 1960s-era L.A. music scene, is an eight-time Grammy winnner, including the Recording Academy's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002, and she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. Her most recent studio album was 2007's Shine, but a number of compilations have been released since, including last year's four-disc Love Has Many Faces: A Quartet, A Ballet, Waiting to Be Danced.

The "Big Yellow Taxi" singer attended Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammys party back in February and she was honored last October at the UCLA Hammer Museum's 12th annual Gala in the Garden, which featured a performance by Sia.

"I think of myself as a painter first and a musician second," Mitchell said for the umpteenth time at the museum soiree.

Asked in 2010 about the common refrain that she's not covered more often because her songs are difficult to sing, Mitchell told the Los Angeles Times, "I'm a method actress in my songs, which is why it's hard to sing them. What I do is unusual: chordal movements that have never been used before, changing keys and modalities mid-song. But John [Kelly, creator of the tribute show Paved Paradise: The Art of Joni Mitchell] gets the spirit: You have to go to the brink of sadness but never fall into melodrama, then send in the clowns for a moment."

In the same interview, she explained her issue with her songs being considered "confessional."

"It's an ugly term—it's 'confessional' if you don't get it; if you do get it, you see yourself in the songs," Mitchell said. "I usually use 'I' as the narrator in my songs, but not all the 'I's' are me; they're characters. It's theater."

MEND congratulates Gen. Buhari on his win of the presidential election

The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, has sent out a congratulatory message to President-elect, Gen Buhari. In a statement signed by the groups spokesperson, Jomo Gbomo, MEND said the emergency of Buhari would help Nigeria regain her peace and unity

While there might have been some logistical obstacles and irregularities associated with the exercise, the result shall stand as what the people want. I thank all Nigerians who have made this day possible, our country has now joined the community of nations that have used the ballot box to physically change an incumbent president in a free and fair election To me, this is indeed historic. Most people will welcome the result because it is the one they voted for. Others will literarily be disappointed. I ask that we all be circumspect, respectful and peaceful in these times. This was a hard-fought contest. Emotions were high.

We must not allow them to get the better of us. This is not the time for confrontation. This is a moment that we must begin to heal the wounds and work toward a better future. We do this first by extending a hand of friendship and conciliation across the political divide. We hope and pray our friends in other parties reciprocate. I thank all the members of the All Progressives Congress, the APC, for their commitment and their hard work through the formation of the party, the campaigns and the presidential elections. Let me equally express my appreciation to the media, civil society and security agencies for their selfless service.

The international press and our friends abroad deserve a fair commendation for their support throughout the process. We promise a robust and dynamic engagement with your countries in matters of mutual interest. In the interim, I call on all Nigerians to be law abiding and peaceful. The eyes of the world were focused on us to see if we can vote in a peaceful way and carry out elections in an orderly manner. We have proven to the world that we are a people who have embraced democracy and a people who seek a government by, for and for the people.

We have put one party state behind us. We have voted for a government that will serve and govern, but will never rule over you. CHANGE has come and a new day and a new Nigeria is upon us. The victory is yours and the glory is that of our nation, NIGERIA. I will make a more formal address to the nation, later in the afternoon after I receive the certificate of return from the INEC.
