42 suspected members of Boko Haram were today Nov. 6th released to the Borno state government after investigations carried out by the Nigerian army showed they had no ties with the sect.

Presenting the released suspects to the state governor, Kashim Shettima, the  Deputy Director of Army Public Relations of the 7 Division, Col. Sanni Usman said investigations showed the men who were arrested at various times in Maiduguri and other parts in Borno state, had no connection with the sect. He announced a donation of N100,000 each from the Nigerian Army to the released men to help rehabilitate and reintegrate them back into the society.
Receiving the men, the state governor thanked the army for conducting a thorough investigation. He also gave cash gifts to all the released men. 39 of the released suspects were Borno state indigenes while the remaining three were foreigners from Chad, Burkina Faso and Cameroon.

Chris Brown Slams Adrienne Bailon and Tamar Braxton for Their Comments on His Relationship With Karrueche Tran

Just when we thought Chris Brown had turned over a new leaf...
The X singer went in on Adrienne Bailon and Tamar Braxton after the two co-hosts discussed Breezy and Karrueche Tran's relationship on The Real today. The ladies argued that Karrueche puts up with Brown's antics because she and her friends love the fame that comes with dating a guy like Chris.
"Don't you think some of your friends reap some of the benefits of her dating Chris Brown?" Bailon asked, "Really are your friends going to tell you to leave that?"
Well, Chris didn't like that. At all. And he made that very clear on his Instagram.
Posting a photo of Bailon (which her ex-boyfriend Rob Kardashian reportedly "liked"), Brown captioned the picture:
"BRING THAT ASS HERE BOY" ADRIENNE BAILON.... You ole trout mouth ass bitch. U tried it. Won't u the same bitch that was f--king wit married men? U also was keeping up with the Kardashians! U can't talk about relationship goals when u don't even have life goals. Ain't you a cheetah girl? Last time u was important n---as was riding spinners and wearing 6x talk Ts. Muppet face ass! #basicbitchproblems #thotiannas I don't even need a photo for Tamar, that bitch is beat in every photo! #icanmakeabrokebitchrichbutidontfuckwitbrokebitches
But it didn't end there. Chris also posted a video (which he later deleted) and said, "I ain't got no chill button. if you don't like it, f-ck you." However, he must have had a change of heart, because he posted another video and said, "Everybody entitled to their opinion. I'm entitled to mine, too. F--k you mean. Some days you the bug, some days you the windshield."
E! News has reached out to Bailon's camp for comment.
Braxton, on the other hand, made her feelings on the matter very clear on Instagram:
"#whenyourgirlhasatalkshowinsteadofcryingaboutyouwhileONone... you are asked to talk about certain things such as A.relationships B.family C.fashion D. Things that has to do with HER in life! @chrisbrownofficial @karrueche no one came at either of you but was simply using your relationship as an example of things us ladies go through in a relationship!! Actress Iya Rainbow – Men who were After Me Ran Away when They Saw My Children

Veteran actress Idowu Phillips, popularly known as Iya Rainbow, tells Ademola Olonilua of Punch about her career and life as a widow. It is an interesting read. Enjoy:
How did you get the stage name Iya Rainbow?
The name of my late husband’s group is Osumare Theatre and I was always referred to as Mama Osumare but there was a day I did a movie for the English-speaking section of the industry and the name of the film is The Vow. In the movie, robbers came to my house and killed my child and I was meant to react like anyone would in real life. I cried and tore my clothes. After the director yelled cut, I was still crying, so some Igbo boys on set came to ask why I was still crying. They wanted to call my name but could not pronounce Osumare, so I told them it meant rainbow in English. They were amazed and said they would be calling me Mama Rainbow which they felt was easier and that was how the name stuck.
How did you meet your late husband?
I was made the matron of his theatre group. Then, I always assisted them and whenever they had their anniversary, I helped with arrangements and invitations. I can’t really remember how it happened, all I know is that we got attracted to each other and got married. We did not stay together for long before he died. I lost my husband in 1984 and sometimes, I think he just came to this world to work for me because I am reaping from where he had sown.
What led to his death?

He was sick for about two and a half years and we tried everything possible to get him well but no luck. Whenever he was tested at the hospital, the doctors always said they could not figure out what was wrong with him. Till now, I don’t understand what happened but God knows best. My husband told me in several dreams that all those involved in his death would die and it happened.
Were you born in Lagos?
Yes, I was born in Lagos but my parents were from Odogbolu, Ijebu, Ogun State and they were staunch Christians. My father was a prophet before he died. I attended the school of nursing to train as a nurse. I worked at several general hospitals before I retired in 1986 after 20 years of service.
It seems crying profusely in movies comes naturally to you, how do you do it?
I often remember some painful incidents in my life because it is not easy to force tears from the eyes when you are not beaten. Sometimes, I remember my late husband and that often brings tears to my eyes. When I remember some things I am asking from God but have not received, it brings tears to my eyes. You know that sometimes we cry to God when we ask Him for things. That is how I do it.
How did your parents react when you chose to be an actress?
I have spent 45 years on stage. Initially, my parents were not in support of my career. It was worse for someone like me because my father was a prophet. When I started acting, parents strongly opposed it. But now, I am amazed when I see parents encourage their children to go into acting. Then, our profession was seen as something meant for lazy people. People always looked down on us until God blessed our job. Now, it takes me around the world. My parents later relaxed because they were told by prophets that it was my destiny. My father told me that because he desperately wanted a female child, he begged God and fasted for 40 days. When he was asking God for a female child, he was told that the female child he would have would be a servant of God and be more popular than her parents. They were also told that she would go to places they never imagined. It was not through my nursing profession that my glory shone but through my acting career. They eventually saw that the profession was paying off and I was receiving awards all over the world and they later supported me.
Did you decide to build a church because of that prophecy?
It is part of the prophecy. As an actress, I am like a lecturer. We teach people about the ‘dos’ and ‘don’ts’ of life. God had been calling me to serve him but I felt that if I heeded the call, I would not have time for my job. So, I refused. He called me for over 15 years but I turned a deaf ear to him. In 2004, I went to London and a young lady, Kate, who sews our garments, asked me to accompany her to a church where she wanted to make a garment for a prophetess. Initially, I refused because I did not like people seeing visions about me but I agreed eventually. When we got there, she went in while I waited outside. The prophetess came to meet me outside and in the presence of everybody, she asked me why I was running away from God. Then she said that God asked her to query me about the staff He gave me. I told her I did not understand what she was saying since I was not Moses. She said that God told her that if I did not heed his calling, I would suffer. The fact that I did not initially heed the calling made me suffer in life. Even my children were not spared, they shared in the suffering.
What kind of suffering did you encounter with your children?
Sometimes, we would wake up and there would be nothing to eat. Often times, we ended our early morning devotion in tears because there would be no food. God intentionally blocked everywhere we could possibly get help. People began to tell me that I was just being stubborn; they said I was suffering because I refused to listen to God. I had to accept the call at last. I have been at it for seven years and ever since then, I have been blessed tremendously and there is nothing I need that I don’t have. I don’t go hungry anymore; I give out scholarships and can afford to sponsor people now. If you have noticed, I have not been in any movie for about two years now and I am doing very fine. But if anyone calls me for work, I would oblige because acting is a calling for me; it is a gift I brought from heaven.
At 72, how do you combine God’s work with your acting career?
They do not clash at all; I also anchor events. It is a matter of planning and ability to organise one’s life.
Don’t you ever get tired?
I do get tired but when I am, I rest. This is the time I have to do all I can do because there would be a time that even when I want to do certain things, my body would not allow me.

Tonto Slams Empress Njamah’s Tattoo Comments?

Last week, two top Nigerian female celebrities, Ego and Empress Njamah expressed their feelings on the issue of drawing tattoos on their bodies.

Empress even claimed tattoos are marks of the beast and said she can never imagine having them on her body.

"Lots of people can swear that I have tattoos on my body because I was known for colourful hair and nails so lots of people thought I had tattoos as well; I can’t give myself the mark of the beast. I don’t want to say what a lot of people will misconstrue but I don’t have to draw anything on my body to prove a point; for me, tattoos are a no no," she had said.

But in what seems to be a counter and sharp disagreement to Empress’ comments, controversial Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, shared some pictures from her new movie she acted in, where she played a role of a prophet with her tattoos fully displayed.

She wrote, “Am not sure I follow; so does of us with tattoos can't enter heaven? Or can't be born again or be preachers... Are you joking? Ouch. Ignorant hurts.

"We have a merciful God and thank good he aint non of u, lmaooo. See you in heaven baby...I hope u make it there."

Though Tonto did not specifically mention Empress' name, but some have already interpreted that she was referring to her colleague.

Boko Haram fully takes over, now ruling Mubi Town with Sharia

Members of the violent sect, Boko Haram, have instituted the Shara law in Mubi, Adamawa State that they captured last week. The insurgents were also said to have amputated the hands of 10 people said to have been found guilty of sundry offences, including looting of property of fleeing residents.

Sources in Mubi town said they saw the terrorists parading 10 persons whose hands were said to have been amputated. The victims were said to been amputated in the presence of residents of the area.
An eye witness account indicated that two imams were dragged out from a mosque and beheaded for allegedly preaching against Boko Haram. The insurgents also advised all Christians in the Mubi Local Government Area to relocate to other areas except they were prepared to be islamised or be killed.
The source further said that the Emir’s palace in Mubi had been converted to the residence of the ‘Amir’ and that the insurgents hoisted their flags to signify that they were in control of the palace...

PUNCH learnt that the most affected by the development in Mubi were students of the Adamawa State University and the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi. The students were said to have gone through torture before some of them reportedly escaped through the border between Nigeria and Cameroun.

Some of them were said to still be in the bush.

“I must give thanks and praises to God almighty for spearing my life; I saw as people were being slaughtered like goats. I am too happy to see myself alive,” a female student of the Federal Polytechnic, told our correspondent in Yola on Sunday.

The insurgents said their mode of prayer was different from what Muslims in the town were used to and that they were “in Mubi to restore Islamic independence to the people and anybody who does not follow us must be killed.”

“We are not to hurt anyone but to free the people from religious slavery,” a source quoted the insurgents to have said.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Zanna Mustapha, has said that the Federal Government needs to adopt more stringent measures against Boko Haram in the North-East.

He said the state governments of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe had raised the alarm over the future of their states as a result of rising occupation of towns and villages by Boko Haram.

Obasanjo blames Jonathan, others for the Rot in Power Sector

President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has blamed his successors for the rot in the power sector. He said the country needed to generate 2,000 megawatts every year for the citizens to enjoy stable electricity.

Obasanjo, after his second coming as a civilian president, handed over to the late former President Umaru Yar’Adua in 2007 while President Goodluck Jonathan assumed office in May, 2010.

He said subsequent administrations after his reign as military ruler between 1976 and 1979 did nothing on power generation until he returned in 1999. According to him, leaders in the country lack the political will to confront national challenges.
He said, “Part of our problems is lack of political will on the part of the leaders. What does a leader understands about development? Any leader worth his salt should know that power is very important. It is the driver of all developments, be it social, economic, and even political.
“When I was military head of state, I developed the Jebba Dam, I developed Shiroro, I started Egbin. Shehu Shagari came and completed Egbin and commissioned Jebba and Shiroro.
“Between Shagari in 1983, until I came back in 1999, there was no single dime invested in power generation. If anything, the ones that were there were allowed to go down.”

The ex-President, spoke at a programme tagged ‘First Green Legacy Moment with Olusegun Obasanjo on Leadership and Human Security in Africa’, which held in Abeokuta.
Obasanjo said, “A country like Nigeria must be adding not less than 2,000 megawatts every year if we are to be moving on the path of development.

“If you will remember, when I came back in 1999, my first Minister of Power was late Bola Ige. I won’t say Bola didn’t know what he was doing and he said publicly that he would fix the power problems in six months.

“After one year, Bola with his capacity couldn’t fathom what was wrong with power. It was riddled with corruption. Then we had no money. People have forgotten that in 1999/2000, the price of crude oil was US $9 per barrel. So, I wanted the oil companies, Mobil, Total and they wouldn’t go.

“When we started having money, we started the National Integrated Power Plant. When we said the money we had should be invested in power, my successor didn’t understand; he stopped it. If for almost 20 years we did not achieve anything in power generation, then we may not be able to get it again.”

Obasanjo, who cited South Africa as an example, said with its population of 55 million people, SA generated 45,000 megawatts, while Nigeria with about 180 million people could not generate 4, 000 megawatts.

He said, “For us to say that we are industrialising country, we must be generating much more than what South Africa is generating, say 100,000 megawatts.

“What year will Nigeria get there if we are adding 2,000 megawatts each year? For us to get to 100,000 mega watts, I leave the mathematics to you. It sounds very discouraging but that is the reality.”

I no longer speak to my ex-wife - K Solo

Much has been said about the quality of songs being churned out today and there seems to be an unanimous believe that there is an overwhelming amount of crappy songs making the rounds at the moment.

Sadly, the drop in quality in the music is justified in some circles with the saying that the fans actually like ‘quack’ songs.

But ace music producer, K-Solo, in an exclusive chat withHotNaijaGossip.com, disclosed that he does not really think or accept the saying that commercial beats or music sell more than lyrically rich songs in Nigeria.

K-Solo explained that artistes going into commercial music only observed that because it is the latest trend. He said, “When you are in Rome, act like the Romans.” He argued that some of these commercial songs have good lyrics, stating that those with poor beats will fade out.

Commenting on his then controversial marital travails with his ex-wife, Kikelomo, the producer said he would want to keep his family life private because it is his past, which was a failure.

When asked if he is still on speaking terms with his former wife, “day and night got no relationship, relationship kee?” he responded.

Meanwhile, the producer has disclosed that he would be releasing a collaboration album in 2015. According to him, the album will consist of artistes he has ever worked with in the past.

You Will Die A Wretched Sad Old Man—Chika Ike’s Manager Blasts Charles Novia

Some days ago, Chika Ike and her manager, Sarah Donald were in the news for having a vacation in Dubai. They reportedly spent millions of Naira for the trip and also shared pictured from the vacation on the internet, which attracted criticisms.
One of those who criticised the action was controversial filmmaker, Charles Novia.

In his words, Charles said, ‘These so-called celebs just set me off! Look, my friend, as with many of those in the society from which our Nigerian celebrities come from, these guys suffer from a deep-rooted poverty mentality which even their doubtful educational exploits cannot mask.

‘Why do you say so?

‘Let me give an example with that Chika Ike. She is an actress or something? Yeah? How is it that she sorts of ensures that the whole Nigeria must know that she paid $24,000 for a two-day yacht ride in the Middle East? Isn’t that some sort of dysfunction of her faculties?

‘But I read that it was her Personal Assistant who wrote effusively on her personal page that Chika paid that amount and took her, the PA or friend, along for the ride.

‘It all boils down to my point. And by the way, that picture I saw of the yacht is suspect. The damned thing looked like a cruise boat which the obtuse PA might have mistaken for a yacht though. Anyway, my point is, in this clime we live in, our so-called celebrities, coming from a background of social, material and emotional deprivation just have to FORCE the public to know that they have arrived. So, a boat trip, a helicopter ride, a breakfast in a 3 star hotel lobby and a personal scratch on the ass must make the news at all costs.’

But the actress’ manager has not found those words funny and has lashed out at the filmmaker, who is well known for criticising celebrities. Serah described Charles as a ‘wretched sad old man.’

Serah wrote, “Ah hh Charles Novia. Why the beef? I understand your pains that after years spent in the industry you have nothing to show for it and have resorted to getting fame with celebrities names. Oh well! Let me grant you the audience of having your fifteen minutes fame as usual. Trying to resurrect your dead career by trying to be a critic or will I say a hater.

“Before you hate why not at least do a proper research. First you called a yatch, a cruise boat. I laughed at first but I understand that you have not experienced the luxury of being in a Yatch to know the difference between a boat and a Yatch. You called Jumirah beach hotel a 3 star hotel? My guy I forgive your ignorance, how will you know the difference when you have not even been in a two star hotel how much more a five star hotel.

“You call me Chika Ike’s personal Assistant, that really got me laughing hard because I know that you know I am her manager and her publicist a position you will give your life to attain at leas to make some money for yourself and take expense paid trips vacation. I remember clearly that you met me in California when you came for Nollywood convention and I was in a film school one you won’t even be able to afford even if you worked for years but then again I forgive your ignorance as I deeply feel your pains. Dealing with a dead career is not really an easy one.
“But one advice focus on resurrecting your career and going back to being a movie director rather than living your life hating on celebrities who has made it. It’s obvious your beef doesn’t pay your bills and you will die a wretched sad old man who will be remembered for hating on celebrities. Like the famous saying goes. Have you ever seen a statue erected in honour of a critic? No!

“Chika Ike is one of the biggest Nigerian celebrities we have, a U.N ambassador, Bullet energy drink ambassador. Refugee ambassador for displaced person just to mention a few. An extremely hardworking one as such and very charitable. I am sure you are aware of how many lives she has changed with her Chika Ike foundation. Chika Ike is blessed and no man can take that away. She is 28 and successful and she’s sure going to live her life to the fullest so feel free to feed your eyes with more Instagram pictures if it pains you then go work harder and be celebrated. Peace out!”
