Arsenal close to sign Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona

Alexis Sanchez’s transfer to Arsenal has edged even closer after he reportedly accepted the club’s offer of a five-year contract worth around £150,000-a-week.
The Gunners are on the cusp of pulling off a stunning deal for Barcelona star Sanchez, who was told he can leave the Nou Camp earlier this summer.
Arsenal have fended off interest from Liverpool, Juventus and AC Milan and now expect to complete the signing of the 25-year-old quickly, with personal terms now apparently agreed.

Blackout for Brazil as Klose makes history

Brazil suffer one of the most humiliating world cup defeats as Miroslav Klose makes history. It was as if it was only Germany that came to the party. The World Cup host were whooped a disgracing 7-1. Germany proved they were a better team. This also goes to show that the absence of Thiago Silva & Neymar was a problem for Brazil. Germany now have to wait to see who they will play in the final (whether Netherlands or Argentina).

Update on Neymar

Neymar has been flown to his home in Sao Paulo by helicopter to begin his recovery.

Keshi: Give me a better contract and I'll stay.

Out of contract Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi has given conditions that would make him consider if he will continue as coach of the national team.
Keshi who led Nigeria to yet another round of 16 finish at the world cup after 20 years, revealed that he was ready to move on, if he was not given better conditions to work as Nigerian coach. He added that he has several offers including that of South Africa, which, according to him is most likely to happen.
He submitted that he would very much love to continue with the "Nigerian project" he has started: "But if the offer isn't good enough for me, then I will explore other options and possibly move on to another challenge. It's always a good thing when you experience other climates," said the coach who was widely reported to have thrown in the towel after the Eagles were dismissed from the world cup by France.
However, in considering the Nigerian job, Keshi said that there must have to be changes in the way the Nigerian Football Federation relates to coaches under its employ.
"Well for starters, my previous contract was never respected. I was paying one of my assistants (Valere Houandonou) for over a year, my former assistant Sylvanus Okpala was sacked without my consent and those things just never made sense.
"I mean Nigeria is my country and I love my country, but I'm out of contract now so I have to move on. I have spent over two years as coach of Nigeria, and Nigeria flows in my veins but I just have to move on.
"If the offer comes, we will sit down and talk and if there's something concrete, then we'll see how it goes. I have several offers but it's South Africa that have been very vocal about their offer, so that's the way it is.

“I’ve given my heart to Nigeria, I have done it for the country for years. I played as a captain of the national team for 14years so this isn't about heart anymore. It's now about professionalism, I am a professional football coach and that is all I do. I have kids in the university that I have to feed and I can't do that by 'heart'. Doing the 'heart' thing cannot work anymore, because that isn't going to put food on my table," Keshi quipped as he chatted with SL10.

Olympiacos have signed E A Abidal from Monaco. The defender has reportedly signed a one year deal with Olympiacos.

Do not exchange the Chibok Girls for detained members of Boko Haram says Prophet Samuel.

Prophet Ikechukwu Samuel, a renowned preacher and General Overseer of Shiloh World Chapel (aka Faith Nations), has urged President Goodluck Jonathan not to release the detained members of Boko Haram in exchange for the CHIBOK GIRLS. He says it will be costly and regrettable.

HOW TO PICK THE RIGHT GIRL.

Too often I hear my fiancé’s friends say “that girl just isn’t right for me” or “she just wasn’t that into me.” When men get in these types of situations it could be because they are just not picking the right girl.
Here are a few things to pay attention to when you are looking for your lady.
·         Look at what the girl is wearing. If she is caked with makeup and wearing a short skirt, heels and a dressy top at a casual place, then that could mean that the girl is high maintenance. If that is your type of girl, then great, but be warned that these girls may come off not as friendly as others.
·         Try to see subtle cues that reveal her personality. Look at her purse or backpack and other accessories. For example, a girl’s purse says a lot about her. A purse that is a hipster-like bag or purse from Coach are two different things.
·         Watch how she carries herself. If you see her smiling and being friendly       to others, then that means she is most likely too polite to say anything that would hurt your feelings or discourage you from asking her out.
·         When you first approach her, see how she reacts towards you. If she is smiling and engaging herself, then go for it, and ask her out. However, if she is being polite, but is not interested, then just leave it at that.

                                                   WHAT'S YOUR TAKE ON THIS?

WOMEN SURVEY

After conducting a recent poll of 50 women, ranging from the ages of 18 to 50, the statistics have concluded that the number one thing a woman is attracted to in a man is his personality.
Within the subcategories of a man’s personality, the number one sought after trait is humor. Every girl loves a man that can make her laugh, so try to put yourself out there and if you see the opportunity to reveal your funny side, go for it.
The poll also revealed that the next two most desired traits in a man are someone who listens and someone who’s intelligent. These are two very important characteristics because, let’s be honest, women want a man who can hold a conversation and provide for them.
As far as physical appearances are concerned, the most important characteristics women are looking for in a man are a nice face, a good smile, pretty eyes and well-groomed facial hair.
Many of these physical characteristics sound like an outline of a celebrity, but know that this is not the case. Women find unique characteristics in every man, so even if you feel that you don’t have Johnny Depp’s eyes a woman who loves you will think you are nearly perfect from head to toe.

THE DOS AND DON'TS OF DATING

Do:
1. Be prepared to hold a conversation. Whether you have to think of questions to ask her or talk about yourself, keeping the conversation going is a lot better than sitting in silence. Anything involving movies, music and television shows are always good conversation starters and a great way to learn what you and your date has (or don’t has) in common.
2. Have somewhat of a plan. Being spontaneous can be fun, but if it’s a Friday or Saturday night and you are planning on going out to a nice dinner, it might be helpful to schedule a backup reservation just to be safe. Also, tell your girl how she should dress for the date, don’t have her break out the little black dress if you are going to a casual restaurant.
3. Know what type of food your date likes and encourage her to order whatever she wants. Many girls feel modest and order a salad or something light on the first date, but don’t let that be the case. Demonstrate to her that she can be comfortable with you and eat that burger that she really wants.
4. Ask to take her out again if you feel that the date went well. Too often young men will take a woman out, have a great time and just forget to set up a future date night. If you feel like you both enjoyed yourselves, tell her you would like to do this again sometime and go from there.
5. Expect to pay for dinner or whatever you ‘lovebirds’ decide to do throughout the evening. Even though it is 2012, women still expect a man to pick up the check, especially on the first date.
Don’t:
1. Be late. Whether you are picking her up or if you are meeting her somewhere, try to be no more than 10 minutes late unless you call her. Once when that 10 minute mark hits, a girl can begin to feel insecure about how important this date really is to you.
2. Forget to compliment your date. Whether you like her hair, her eyes or her dress, tell your lady how great she looks. Giving your date a compliment will put her more at ease and give her that little boost of confidence. Not only that, but you will probably get a compliment in return too.
3. Talk about ex-girlfriends or past relationships. Although this may seem pretty obvious, you would be surprised how often this happens. Girls are sorry that Suzy Q and you didn’t work out, but just bringing up that past shows that you have not moved on.
4. Be on your cellphone throughout the whole night. Watching someone check his Facebook and text message his friends throughout the night is not an ideal time for anyone. If you are constantly on your phone it can make your date feel like you are not interested in her and you must have better things to do.
5. Expect a kiss at the end of the night. Remember boys, this is the first date and most women like to take it slow.

How to Be a Modern Gentleman

  1. 1
Understand that equality doesn't mean throwing your manners and good taste out of the window. The dating game is still about captivating one another, impressing one another, and being on your best behavior. Behaving in an ungentlemanly manner might get some laughs in the retelling and it might even temporarily attract a woman who is into the date for a lark but it won't get you a long-term commitment and it definitely won't win you respect. Boldly stating that women are equal so they can jolly well pay and put up with you as you are is a blinkered approach to dating. The importance of indulging in a little etiquette when dating will be repaid by a dating experience that is considerate, caring, and most of all, more fun because your date will definitely be impressed by your manners and what used to be referred to as "good breeding". So, it's time to dress well, plan a decent date, and polish up your gentlemanly ways.

  2. 2
Be on time. A gentleman never keeps his date waiting but is punctual and ready to go at the appointed hour. Set your alarm if needed, and plan how long it will take to arrive at your destination ahead of time.
    • Don't be late without a very good excuse and be sure to phone her to explain what has happened to hold you up. She may not wait long, especially if she's had previous experiences with non-gentleman types standing her up.
  3. 3
Compliment your date. Women like reassurance when it comes to their appearance. A great way to make a positive first impression is by offering a compliment on your date’s appearance. Be cautious though. Using cliched pick-up lines and corny compliments would make most women sprint back to their apartments. Be careful not to come across as creepy. No girl likes to feel objectified. Keep the compliments light and innocent.
    • Never insult your date. One quick way to guarantee you don’t get a second date is to insult your date. If you recognize that you are a person prone to criticizing, try to hold back on even the slightest criticism. Making any criticism, no matter how constructive you feel it to be, will probably come across as an insult which will start the downhill spiral of your date. If you recognize that you are a sarcastic or humorous person, be careful not to take a joke too far. Even if you’re joking, a woman may take your joke the wrong way. It’s best to avoid anything resembling an insult or a sarcastic tone altogether, and if it's politically incorrect, volatile, orgossip, don't say it.
  4. 4
Open doors for your date. Men, this is chivalry 101. When walking out of any door, make sure you hold the door open for your date and let her walk out first.[2] This will make your date feel special and respected. There's no need to do this with flamboyant gestures though; just do it subtly and thoughtfully.
    • Don't let the door slam on your date. This should be a given. When walking out of doors, it’s rude to walk out first, especially when that means letting the door close on your date. To women, this action signals selfishness. Men, if you’re afraid of looking like you care too much, don’t. It’s not a sign of weakness to open doors for your dates, in fact, it is just the opposite.
  5. 5
Help your date to her chair before you sit down. This may seem odd because it doesn’t happen very often these days, but by pulling out the chair for your date so she can sit down first, this shows your date that you care about her interests before your own. It is also a very gentlemanly gesture liable to score you a big win in the manners stakes.
    • Don't pull the chair out so she falls down. Remember how old you are; this kind of prank didn’t work in the sixth grade, and it definitely won’t work now. Your date will be embarrassed or shocked and if she doesn’t leave right then and there, she definitely won’t stick around for a second date.
    • If you are eating with others at the table, wait until everyone is seated and ready to eat before beginning to eat. A gentleman does not bolt down his dinner.
  6. 6
Ask questions about your date. Be a good conversationalist. Don’t be afraid of awkward silence; instead, keep the conversation rolling by coming prepared with plenty of things to talk about. Your date will feel respected if you listen to what she has to say and she will be impressed if you don’t let the conversation drop.
    • Don't play with your food, talk while chewing, yawn, etc. Being a modern gentleman means sitting up straight and looking your date in the eye when you’re talking to each other. Don’t spend too much time looking down at your plate – your mashed potatoes can’t talk back.
    • Don't flaunt being wealthy or talk derogatorily about people who are wealthy. Both approaches show a total lack of refinement and cause the listener to squirm uncomfortably, wondering what personal takeover or revolution you're planning next. If you are wealthy and you want to make this evident, wear quality clothing but don't brag.[3] On the other hand, no man needs to be wealthy to have good taste, so wear good, clean, and well-pressed clothing whatever your means.
    • Read How to make small talk for more ideas on finding topics to talk about.
  7. 7
Be prepared to pay for you and your date’s meals. If she offers to pay, kindly refuse. Remind her that you are on a date and it is your pleasure to take the bill. There is a lot of confusion about this aspect of a date but a gentleman is never confused; a gentleman simply gets on with paying.
    • Don't use the ruse of leaving your wallet behind and expecting your date to pay. Even if you don’t "forget" your wallet, don’t expect your date to pay for her own meal. When the waitress comes by with the bill, don’t hesitate to grab it. By leaving it on the table for too long, your date might get nervous wondering if you’re going to pay.
  8. 8
Offer your arm when walking with your date. This is a gentlemanly act and it is also one guaranteed to help your date when she's walking on uneven ground in herhigh heels. While it is an intimate act, it is perfectly acceptable for a gentleman and means nothing more than being respectful.[4] Always walk alongside a woman when walking down stairs, not behind her.[5]
    • It's also a good idea to help her to put on her coat when leaving a building during the colder weather.[6]
    • Always walk next to the road on a roadside; that way if there is any splashing from puddles, it'll hit you, not her.
  9. 9
Let your date know how much fun you had and offer a possible second date.Keep your boundaries by being polite and respectful. Women don’t like to feel forced into a goodnight kiss or anything more.
    • Don't try to force any moves, especially if she seems unwilling. Treat her with respect. It is a huge turnoff when a man assumes his right to move in on his date.
    • Maintain her honor. Never kiss and tell.

Stephen Keshi Explains Why He Wants To Dump Nigeria

After all the speculations and intrigues over the purported resignation of Nigeria’s Super Eagles Head Coach, Stephen Keshi, the former coach of Mali and Togo has finally spoken out over the uncertainty surrounding his future.
According to an interview Keshi granted supersport.com, after the Nigeria versus France match, at the Brasilia Palace Hotel camp of the Super Eagles in Brazil and published on Thursday, 3 July, 2014, the former skipper of the Nigerian team stated that he is done with the Eagles.
Keshi was also quoted to have said that he is finished with his assignment with the team and had enough of the politics associated with handling the Nigerian national football team.
"I am done. I have finished my assignment with the team. I have had enough of all the politics and games and intrigues of handling the national team," the man called the Big Boss said clearly.
"My contract is up, no one asked me questions nor offered me a new one which is a clear indication that I am not wanted so there is really no drama. If they want me to put it down on paper I will get my lawyer to write to them," Keshi said.
Speaking on the criticisms that followed his squad’s performance at the World Cup and if he took a gamble on some of the players he took to Brazil, the coach replied:
"Apart from Bright Dike and Leon Balogun who were both injured I took the players I wanted to take to the World Cup. I had a 30 man squad that was then cut down to 23 that met the settings we were using to select. I stand by the team I brought here to Brazil.

PICKING THE PERFECT HOTEL.

When traveling on vacation, where you stay can have a major effect on your overall experience. This doesn’t mean that you always have to overspend on a hotel. It means you need to make a few wise choices when making a selection.
Here are a few tips in selecting the perfect hotel for a trip:
1.    Location, Location, and Location: As with purchasing real estate, the location of your hotel should be high on your list of priorities. Consider its access to transportation, its distance from the sites you want to visit, etc.
2.    Amenities: Even if you plan on spending a minimum amount of time in the hotel, the amenities will have effect on your overall experience.

Things to consider:
·         Does it have a pool?
·         Does it provide Wi-Fi, and is there a charge?
·         Is there a charge to make local phone calls?
·         Does it provide airport or local transportation?

Sometimes the cheapest hotel can end up being the most expensive.

3.    Ambiance: When selecting a hotel, decide if you want an upscale hotel, or one with local flavor, or if you are willing to settle for something basic.
4.    Loyalty Programs and Frequent Flier Miles: Some hotels offer points for their own programs, or airline points. Consider this when making a decision.

Navratilova doesn't believe Serena had a viral illness.

"I find it distressing," Navratilova told ESPNW as the situation that resulted in Serena and Sister Venus Williams defaulting their doubles match Tuesday continued to be parsed over. Serena received medical treatment before they took the court, after which they still played several games, including the third and final one during which Serena couldn't even get her typically fierce serve over the net.
The 32-year-old champ, who came into the tournament seeded No. 1 and had lost her singles match the day before, said in a statement afterward that "a bug just got the best" of her, and her condition was reported as a "viral illness. She believes it was Serena’s lost that made her doubles game difficult. She also says that she doesn't believe Serena had a viral illness."

Khloe Kardashian & French Montana Leaving The Airport

Is French Montana using Khloe to get fame?

People have the pinion that French Montana is using Khloé Kardashian to get attention and fame. Khloé Kardashian is in love but does French Montana really love. What's your opinion on their relationship.

Khloe Kardashian flight got cancelled.

Khloé Kardashian's ongoing birthday celebration hit a bit of a snag earlier today.
The E! Star, who is hosting a big birthday bash at Tao nightclub in Las Vegas tomorrow night, and boyfriend French Montana were thwarted in their quest to get to Sin City early when their flight out of New York ended up getting canceled.
Faced with several hours before their rescheduled take-off time, French and Khloé ended up waiting it out in his car.

Did Jay-Z really cheat with Mya?

Mya is staunchly denying rumors that she's Jay Z's mistress amid speculation that Beyoncé's hubby cheated on her.
Earlier today, the Internet was ablaze with reports that Jay had been having a long-term affair with Mya. But as quickly as the rumors spread, the 34-year-old singer took to Instagram to swiftly put out the flames.
In response to a user asking Mya if she was Jay's mistress, Mya wrote, "Never did, never was, never will. Illegitimate, thirsty sources with no facts and that's the ‘media' for you-especially today. I play second to no one, pay my own bills, have my own label, own Management Company, rely on God only and respect myself & marriage too much for nonsense."
I feel there’s something skeptical about all these stories. People are wondering whether that is the reason why Solange was fighting Jay-Z in the elevator. I think the incident in the elevator and the rumors of Jay-Z cheating are linked.

BELGIUM VS BRAZIL #WorldCup

Who will move on to the semi-finals of the 2014 Brazil World Cup? In Belgium team we have the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne, Eden Hazard, Kevin Mirallas, Vincent Kompany, Marouane Fellani, Christian Benteke, Adnan Januzaj, Thorgan Hazard, and Thibaut Courtois. Brazil has the likes of Neymar, Marcelo, Dani Alves, Hulk, Fred, Gustavo, Oscar, Fernadinho, Thiago Silva, David Luiz, and their goalkeeper Cesar. This game would be Lukaku VS Neymar. This would be a tight game for the both teams.

FRANCE VS GERMANY

Who do you think will win? France has Karim Benzema, Olivier Giroud, Pogba, Matuidi, Raphael Varane Valbuena and a good keeper Loris. Germany has the likes of Thomas Muller, Mesut Ozil, Schweinsteiger, Phillip Lahm, Toni kroos, Mario Gotze, Lukas Podolski, Miroslav Klose, Jarome Boateng, Marco Reus, and goal keeper Manuel Neuer. Who do think will proceed to the semi-finals? Some people feel it will end with penalties, some say it will end in 90mins with Germany going through while others feel France will ace it all the way. This will be Thomas Muller VS Karim Benzema. One of this striker has to do it for their team to move on to the semis.

The Secret Lives Of Baba Segi's Wives by Lola Shoneyin

Lola Shoneyin (born Titilola Atinuke Alexandrah Shoneyin, 26 February 1974, IbadanNigeria) is a Nigerian poet and author[1] who launched her debut novel, The Secret Lives of Baba Segi's Wives, in the UK in May 2009. Shoneyin has already forged a reputation as an adventurous, humorous and outspoken poet (often classed in the feminist mould), having published three volumes of poetry. In April 2014 she was named on the Hay Festival's Africa39 list of 39 Sub-Saharan African writers aged under 40 with potential and talent to define trends in African literature. She lives in Abuja, Nigeria.
About the Book
For a polygamist like Baba Segi, his collection of wives and a gaggle of children are the symbol of prosperity, success and validation of his manhood. Everything runs reasonably smoothly in the patriarchal home, until wife number four intrudes on this family romance.
Bolanle, a graduate amongst the semi-literate wives, is hated from the start. Baba Segi’s glee at bagging a graduate doesn’t help matters. Worse, Bolanle’s arrival threatens to do more than simply ruffle feathers. She’s unwittingly set to expose a secret that her co-wives intend to protect, at all costs.
Lola Shoneyin’s light and ironic touch exposes not only the rotten innards of Baba Segi’s polygamous household in this cleverly plotted story; it also shows how not educated or semi-literate women, in contemporary Nigeria can be as restricted, controlled and damaged by men – be they fathers, husbands, uncles, rapists – as they’ve never been.

Alapata Apata by Wole Soyinka

Alapata Apata, Wole Soyinka’s most recent play since King Baabu, published in 2011 is another strong political satire on the contemporary Nigerian situation. The theme of the play which centers on the corruption of power – a vice not only pertaining to Nigeria, but is a universal phenomenon, demonstrates the case of official misuse of resources for personal enrichment.

Alaba, the lead character is a semi-illiterate, exceptionally skilled butcher who, wishing to retire in peace is suddenly and unceremoniously saddled with the huge task of protecting the rights of the underclass. Much of the conflict in the play revolves around the rock beside Alaba’s abode on which he has chosen to spend most of his time. The rock representing the abundance of resources is a metaphor for resource control in Nigeria by the ruling elite. The play also highlights issues like political ‘godfatherism’, ‘militocracy’, sycophancy, and cultural alienation gnawing at the fabric of our existence.
